Welcome to Mrs. Hellmann’s Room  Classroom Rules  Consequences  Binders  Home Communication  Parent Involvement  Mrs. Hellmann’s Room  Thank You

Classroom Rules  Treat one another, as you would like to be treated.  We will be Truthful.  We will be Trustworthy.  We will be Active Listeners.  We will not use Put Downs.  We will do our Personal Best everyday.

Management Plan  Our classroom management plan is built around a mini-economy and personal ribbon.  The students will receive money for arriving to school on time and being prepared to work.  Every other Monday the students will receive a ribbon to decorate and hang in the classroom for 2 weeks.

Consequences  1 st Offense – The student receives a “Warning.” He or she will put their name on the board and pay a fine.  2 nd Offense – The student will put a check by their name, cut the bottom portion of their ribbon, pay a fine and spend some “time-out.”  3 rd Offense – Same as the 2 nd offense, but the child will call a parent and explain their circumstance.

Behavior  Students should intrinsically want to behave. I do not anticipate any problems this year.  If you have any concerns, please contact me as soon as possible.

Binders  Everyday your child will bring home his or her binder.  In the front inside cover we will place our homework or notes.  In the back inside cover we will place our work that is to go home and can stay at home.

Binders  Inside the binder are important reference sheets that need to stay in the binder all year. The reference sheets consist of:  Word lists – These are the words that will be taught throughout the year.  Doubles Chart – This chart is how your child will learn their doubles.

Binders  Hundreds Chart – Your child needs to know how to count by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s to 100.  As we add any other reference sheets we will put them in sheet protectors for you.

Home Communication  If your child has a discipline or academic problem at home I will either write a note in the binder that day (unless it was with a substitute or another teacher) or I will call you that day. Please check the binder daily.  If you have a note for me or lunch money for your child, please put it in the front inside cover of the binder.

Home Communication  Starting in October we will have a Homework Calendar that will have all homework assignments for the month listed. (Please note that this does not include make-up work.)

Parent Involvement  As a parent your help is always needed and appreciated.  I am a strong believer in reading everyday. When you can continue to encourage your child that will help us progress.

Parent Involvement  If you are interested in helping with classroom parties or field trips, please fill out the “Parent Volunteer” sheet.  If there is anything that you want me to know about your child or your family, please leave me a note tonight or send me a note in your child’s binder.

Mrs. Hellmann’s Room  In our room I expect everyone to respect one another.

Mrs. Hellmann’s Room  In our room I want our differences to be recognized and celebrated!

Mrs. Hellmann’s Room  In our room I want learning to be exciting and life-long.

Mrs. Hellmann’s Room  In our room we will practice our lifeskills daily.

Thank You!  Thank you for coming! I look forward to working with you and your child this year.

 It is good to have an end to journey towards, but it is the journey that matters in the end. -Ursula K. LeGuin
