CONTENT & LANGUAGE OBJECTIVES CONTENT OBJECTIVES: Participants will become familiar with Common Core Standards for Writing and Language Participants will identify where writing and language standards are taught in the Writing Binders and where additional instruction needs to occur Participants will examine features of Opinion Pieces and begin planning lessons to address this new text type LANGUAGE Through reading, writing, listening and discussion, participants will analyze the writing binder unit lessons for alignment with the CCSS and begin planning a Unit of Study for opinion writing.

“WRITING FROM SOURCES” SHIFT#5 Writing in response to texts; writing about texts. Writing based on texts that have been read aloud by the teacher or read by students. Participating in shared research and writing informational pieces based upon the research
