1. Starter / Warm up Prompt start – Get them into the habit of self starting with: An independent warm up or equipment set up. A creative challenge in pairs.

Steps to ‘Outstanding’ 4. Challenge, Collaboration & Choice Challenge is the way to ensure that expectations are high and learners are working to make progress in their learning. Collaboration ensures that students work together, independently of the teacher, to achieve the ‘brilliant outcomes’. Resilience! Choice of tasks engages the learners and makes them feel committed to the task. Higher order blooms taxonomy: Get them to Create, Evaluate etc

Steps to ‘Outstanding’ 5. Dedicate Improvement & Reflection Time Move from group to group facilitating learning. Ask higher order questions that you don’t answer! Give feedback to ensure students understand how to improve their work. Get them to assess their work and amend it.

Steps to ‘Outstanding’ 6. Plenary Sum up the learning outcomes. Get them to discuss and share their key developments in the lesson. Sticky notes to record things they have learned, placed on the door on exit.

Lesson… L/O’s: Level 5 Plan, evaluate & change strategies and tactics to bring about success in net games. Towards: Create a plan to score as many points as you can to target zones of the court. At: Evaluate how effective your game plan was at achieving your goal then changing/improve it. Beyond: Analyse the strengths and weaknesses of your opponents to inform your plans and changes.

Lesson… Starter Students came in and set up equipment in their groups. Did pairs warm ups, pre organised to ensure quick paced start. Introduced L/O’s after warm up, with 3 differentiated outcomes.

Lesson… Tasks Blue, Yellow, Green groups (all different). Success criteria decided by students (assessed by teacher). Q&A intervened to ensure progress maintained/maximised. Students reviewed progress against criteria and improved their work. Moved them on when they were ready.

Lesson… Plenary Reviewed own/collaborative progress towards targets. Discussed what they had learnt and implemented well. Shared what they think they will change next time.
