Musical Basics Musicals first started around the 1900s in the United States. They became popular in the 1940s and 1950s. Most musicals include: singing, dancing, dialogue, costumes, scenery, lighting, and instruments.

Palace Theatre The Will Rogers Follies opened at the Palace Theatre in 1991.

Marcato or Legato Listen to The Will Rogers Follies and decide if you hear it sung using marcato or legato articulation. It is sung using legato articulation. Legato means smoothly connected. Listen to some other songs to hear the difference in articulations.
