Presentation transcript:

Physical Weathering can break rocks with water, wind or temperature.

Chemical weathering is caused by rain water reacting with the mineral grains in rocks to form new minerals (clays) and soluble salts. These reactions occur particularly when the water is slightly acidic.

Gravity Gravity is the force that moves rock and other materials downhill. Gravity causes mass movement, any one of several processes that move sediment downhill.

The different types of Mass Movement includes: Landslides: The must distroctive kind of mass movement is a landslide, which occurs where rock and soil slide quickly down as deep slope Mudflows: is the rapid down hill movement of a mixture of water, rock, and soil.

Slump: is a mass of rock and soil suddenly slips down as slope often occurs when water soaks the bottom of soil that ir rich in clay. The material in a slump moves down in one large mass. Creep: is the very slow down hill movement of rock and soil.It can occur on gentles slopes. Creep often results from the frezing and thawing of water on cracked layers of clock.
