Why do we use punctuation? A woman without her man is nothing. A woman: without her, man is nothing.

Commas When are they used? To separate items in a list: The sports shop sold clothing, footwear, rucksacks, equipment and books.

Inverted commas When are they used? To quote what someone has said or written: ‘Wow, that’s amazing!’ I said.
