Aran Sweater The Aran Sweater takes its name from the set of islands where it originated many generations ago, off the West coast of Ireland. The Aran Islands lie at the mouth of Galway Bay, at the mercy of the relentless Atlantic Sea. The Islanders were fishermen and farmers whose lives and livelihoods were deeply intertwined.

Irish Jewellery This piece is inspired by the triple spiral design on the famous Newgrange entrance stone in Ireland. This spiral design is probably the most famous Irish design from the pre-Christian period. The ancient Irish knew that the sun makes a spiral shape every three months in its travels. The triple spiral motif is drawn in one continuous line, suggestive of a 9 month cycle (birth) and the continuous line speaks to the continuity of life. This design is an artistic representation of ancient Celtic belief systems and values.

Irish Stereotype This is the most recognised Irish fashion??

Irish dance costume With the revival of Irish dancing, the traditional Irish costume has become associated with the bright flamboyant costumes worn by traditional Irish dancers. However in ancient Ireland people were more likely to be seen wearing 'leine' (Irish for shirt), trews (Irish for trousers) and long cloaks fastened with a brooch.

Irish people love their Dogs Irish Wolfhounds are sweet- tempered, patient, generous, thoughtful and can be trusted with children. Not a guard dog by nature, but may be a deterrent simply due to his size. dog They tend to greet everyone as a friend, so use of them as watch dogs is not recommended dogs
