Verbs of Influence aconsejar insistir (en) prohibir dejar mandar recomendar exigir pedir sugerir

Use the indicative for the verb of influence and the subjunctive for the verb that follows que. i.e.: Mi madre aconseja que yo estudie. My mother advises that I study.

Important to Note: The first verb is in indicative because it states a fact. The second verb is subjunctive because it expresses a possibility rather than a fact, and because there is a change of subject.
