NRIC IV Focus Group 3 Task Team 3 Future Considerations Team n Learnings u Recognized a requirement for a step towards understanding impact on the public of service outages for all service providers in the telecommunications market u Services of the new entrants encompass new network architectures and network elements u Services as seen by public users increasingly entail network interconnection which results in interdependence Subcommittee 2: Data Analysis and Future Considerations

n Task Team 3 Preliminary Recommendation u Consider a voluntary trial for service providers of cable, wireless, satellite, data, leased facility arrangements, and ISPs to alert the NCC/NCS regarding “widespread outages” that are likely to have significant public impact u Definition/criteria of “widespread outages” will need to be developed for each industry segment u Process F Voluntary outage data collection lasting for a period of at least one year F Assessment at end of period n Synergies u Consistent with process and practices across industry segments u Complements the FCC Outage Reporting Process (63.100) u Under PDD 63 NCC/NCS designated as ISAC (Information Sharing and Analysis Center) for telecommunications Subcommittee 2: Data Analysis and Future Considerations NRIC IV Focus Group 3
