7 Inbound Processes

8 Process 1: Receive cartons  Scenario 1.1: Receive against ASN  Scenario 1.2: Blind Receiving Process 2: Quality check Put-away

Scenario 1.1: Receiving Against ASN 9 The Carrier Paperwork contains shipment number, and expected cartons. We will review and possibly update quality check settings of the origin sewing plant. Cartons can be received in a standard area or specialized area. Received cartons can be tagged with a season code to aid future rework. Multiple receivers will scan cartons as they are unloaded from the truck.

Scenario 1.1 continued 10  Some cartons will be sent for quality check because of vendor profile settings.  Some cartons will be sent to forward pick locations because they are immediately needed for picking.  Majority of the cartons will be staged for locating to storage area.

Scenario 1.2: Blind Receiving 11  We will demonstrate receiving of cartons for which we have no ASN.  User will need to enter SKU and pieces of each received carton.  DCMS will auto-generate shipment information.  Carton ticket are printed if needed

Process 2: Quality Check 12 During receiving, Some cartons are moved for quality check. We will use MAT module of DCMS to perform quality check.  You will notice that if irregulars are identified during quality check and carton will be marked for correction.  Cartons which successfully pass quality check are moved to storage.

Put-away 13 DCMS supports multiple put-away methods.  Guided Put away - You can pre-determine locations to locate inventory and system will guide locator to these locations.  Cross Dock- Locate to a staging area for quick cross dock.  Utilize empty locations- Simply locate to system suggested empty location.

14 Outbound Operations

15 Download orders from ERP Wave Management Guided Box Pick Guided Pitching Conveyor Sortation Pallet sortation Box QC Appointment scheduling Shipping

Download Orders from ERP 16 Orders are periodically downloaded to DCMS system from ERP or entered using flat file received from customer. DCMS supports EDI standards for downloading orders. DCMS can also provide customized interface for integrating with ERP.

Wave Management 17 Allows you to search and select orders to ship and allocate inventory to the orders. For this demo we will pick order of customer Walmart.  You will understand which UI options are available to select an order.  Search orders of Walmart in Pick Wave screen.  Allocate inventory to these orders; this allows picking process to trigger.  Consolidate orders to reduce transportation and shipping costs using EDI routing.

Guided Box Pick 18 Guided picking process of DCMS guides pickers to exact locations using hand held mobile computer to pick inventory. Picker affixes UCC and CCL labels to the carton and drops them at the QC station or conveyor belt. QC is performed and then cartons are moved to dock.

Guided Pitching 19 When the order being shipped is such that you can pick full cartons from storage, cartons are created from forward pick locations using piece picking called Pitching in DCMS. DCMS uses best pick path algorithm to keep the distance travelled the shortest. Half picked cartons are marked RED. Fully picked cartons can be sent for VAS if needed.

Conveyor Sortation 20 After picking cartons are placed on a conveyor for sortation.  Cartons are sorted using pre-configured rules in DCMS.  During sortation some of the cartons are moved for QC, based on quality check percentage set. Please visit our site at videos/ to see how conveyor sortation is performed. videos/

BoxQc 21 Cartons sent to QC station are checked for accuracy by opening the carton and scanning each piece.  Boxes which pass QC are sent back to QC station.  Boxes which fail are corrected and then sent back to shipping dock.

Pallet Sortation 22 Cartons are palletized for shipping in this process.  If you do not use conveyor sortation in your warehouse this process becomes primary sortation method.  This process creates pallet while making sure that cartons being put on pallet follow the routing rules. For example, two cartons of same customer will not be mixed if their destination is not same. DCMS provides multiple configurations to support all business scenarios.  After pallets are assembled, they are stored in dock locations and await shipping.

Appointment Scheduling 23 Appointments can be scheduled in DCMS with the carrier over phone, or fax. Reduces the risk of delays, lost productivity and chargebacks. Option to let carriers and suppliers use web-based interface to self-schedule shipments is planned. Trucker is provided a appointment number which he can quote upon arrival in the warehouse/DC.

Guided Truck Loading 24 As trucker arrives to pick the shipment, he quotes appointment number and shipping department quickly loads the shipment.  Guided truck loading guides you to pick these pallets and ensures that correct pallets are loaded to truck.  Loaders enter the appointment number in ScanToTruck screen. ScanToTruck guides them to the exact location where pallet has been kept.

Shipping Shipping is the last process in DC operations. Pallet loaded to the truck are ready to be dispatched. 2. Shipping manager creates a Bill of Lading and ships the order. 3. All required shipping documents like bill of lading, international invoice, packing slips are automatically printed by system. 4. Use guided pickup and truck loading to reduce the chances of sending wrong shipments. 5. If you use appointment scheduling and guided truck loading process of DCMS.

Export information to ERP As orders are shipped, DCMS automatically uploads the shipping details to the host ERP. 2. ERP processes this information for billing and accounting purposes.

User management in DCMS 29 DCMS has role based access control for restricting system access to authorized users. Roles are created for various job functions. Each user can be assigned single or multiple roles depending upon the business need. For this demo we will create users, John a supervisor and Alex an operator. User Alex will be created during demo and he will be a Receiving operator. User John has been pre-created and will do every operation. It will also be demonstrated that operator level user Alex is not able to change advanced DCMS configurations.
