What does an Internet Browser do? 1. It goes to a computer at an address that you specify and retrieves a particular file of text  You provide the address, e.g. and the filename is often assumed, e.g. index.htmlwww.bbc.co.uk  The addressed computer is a Web Server 2. It displays the contents of this text file; this is a Web Page 3. It executes the embedded commands 4. Some common commands are:  Enhance the text, e.g. bold, italics  Display a picture  Give the user a place to select an alternative file to display, replacing the current one; this is a Hyperlink  Layout the text in a tabular arrangement

What does an Internet Browser do? Some more sophisticated commands are: 1.Open a box for text input 2.Listen for spoken input and convert to text 3.Open and close subsections or bullet points 4.Execute a Javascript program Javascript can be used for: “Transmitting information about the user's reading habits and browsing activities to various websites. Web pages frequently do this for,, or other purposes.”
