AMP it Up Day AMP It Up Day is scheduled for Jan. 29 th. EED webinar for Amp It Up Day planned for Jan. 14 th at 3:30. How to Prepare? —Have KITE Client installed on machines where students will test. —If using an LCS, have the LCS running and KITE Client testing machines pointed toward the LCS.
Local Caching Server (LCS) A local computer or server that is set up to store data from students testing in KITE Client and then send that data all at once. We suggest this is set up on a dedicated computer with a fixed IP address.
LCS: 2015 Release planned for February 6 th, 2015 Expansion of the LCS Admin features —Two Modes Semi-Offline Fully Offline Ability to begin testing with no internet if tests have been downloaded to the LCS LCS-2014 will no longer work once the LCS is available.
LCS: What if you already have the 2014 installed? Delete the LCS-2014 file from the directory. This should be done before downloading the new LCS After installing the new LCS, there is nothing you need to do for the KITE Client machines as long as the LCS IP address is the same. LCS-2015 cannot be installed while students are testing on LCS-2015.
LCS: Semi-Offline Mode This is how the current LCS functions
LCS: Fully Offline Mode
LCS: Reasons to Use Fully Offline Mode No internet will be available the day of testing. Internet is expected to be unreliable do to weather, maintenance by your service provider, or limited bandwidth due to other local event. Remote location with no internet where testing machines and LCS machine will be delivered. Limited bandwidth
LCS: Semi-Offline vs. Fully Offline Modes We suggest you set up the LCS in one mode and stick with it throughout testing. In most cases, Semi-Offline is sufficient. —Protection against temporary loss of Internet —Variable Internet —Low bandwidth
LCS: Bandwidth Usage Estimates
