Culture of Cheating: What is behind getting an “A”? It is an obvious observation that people have different reasons for choosing to cheat. I think that discovering what the ethical lines of dishonesty are will be the experimental factor for me.

Culture of Cheating: Internal Locus of Control One’s internal locus of control focuses on the outcome of taking a test, for example, is based on their ability to study well, maintain self control, and accepting responsibility for their grades earned. Culture of Cheating: Example One In my first example, I was astonished to actually find a video of a young girl who exposed her secrets to cheating. Her name is “Summer”, and she has a track record of successfully cheating for the past ten years. There seems to be no remorse in her actions and she confidently posts her ideas for everyone to see on the World Wide Web. If she were to invest as much time studying as she does being a cheating seamstress, then she may even pass her classes with academic honesty instead. Culture of Cheating: Example Two This featured Canon commercial exhibits the media’s awareness of the act of academic cheating. The commercial depicts a rigid teacher examining each student as she walks up and down the aisles hoping to interject fear into the taboo act of cheating. Now, the teacher actually thinks that she has accomplished her intentions when she observes students sliding down in their chairs out of trepidation. What the teacher does not know is that the students have used the advertised Canon printer to write the formula for the test on the backs of their white shirts, and they were slumping in the chair to avoid her seeing their creations. Culture of Cheating: Example Three In the movie called “Cheaters”, the teacher (Jeff Daniels) at Steinmetz High is actually the one who influences the behavior of cheating in his students. He sells the dream of being successful as a result of cheating on the state exam. This movie appeals to the pride and ego that is involved in the act of cheating. This illustration shows that cheating is much more than its actions, but it is a real behavior attitudinal transformation that happens within an individual.
