Class Expectations:

Class Expectations Cont.: Important: This course will be monitored daily/weekly by the site coordinators. It is important for you to understand that all of your activity (logging in/out; time spent; activity scores; quizzes; etc.) within your online coursework is being monitored here at Capital. It is important to remain on schedule and be satisfactorily progress (in the green) in order to remain in the course. a.On Schedule (defined): You must complete assignments prior or by the computer generated due dates; you must not fall below 70%. You will need to log in a daily or the equivalent of 5 hours (minimum) a week is expected. Some classes will require more (homework). b.Satisfactory progress (defined): remaining above the 70% mark in the "Quality of work" at all times. Each quiz can be reset by the student up to three times. After the 3 rd failed quiz, the student must show work for that section (study guides completed). Tests will only be reset one time. The 2 nd test will be the final grade for the unit. APEX courses will be graded as Pass/Fail at the completion of the course/semester. A certificate is awarded after the completion of the class and this is given to the school register.

Class Expectations Cont.: Non progressing APEX students may be required to come into Capital High School before or after school or work at home in order to get caught up. Students enrolled in APEX are expected to work on their classroom assignments while in class and will need to make reasonable progress towards the completion of the course on a daily basis.

Class Integrity; If a student is caught cheating this is defined as: Using other internet sites while testing or taking quizzes (google, answer.com etc.) Plagiarism Plagiarism is copying or imitating the language, ideas, and thoughts of another writer and passing them off as your own original work. You agree not to engage in plagiarism when submitting content for any Apex Course. Without limiting the foregoing, you agree not to: Copy or rephrase another student's work Have someone else rewrite an assignment or rephrase any part of an assignment (not just proofread it) Copy content from student aids (for example, Cliff Notes), critical sources, reference materials, or other materials, in part or in whole, without acknowledgment (including by rephrasing ideas borrowed from such materials) Source Citation Many Apex Courses require written work in which you will need to cite your sources. Any direct quotations from your textbook for that Apex Course can simply be cited as (Author, Page Number). Any quotations from outside sources require full citations, including author, title, publisher, date of publication, and page number. If you're citing information found on a website, provide the complete Web page or website title, URL, author if known, page number if applicable, and publication date of the site, if available. The following steps will occur for the above infractions: 1 st step Warning and phone call to parent/guardian 2 nd step Referral to Administrator 3 rd step Removal from Apex Class Class Integrity:

Important: Students will follow all school policies including the sections regarding no cell phone and personal music devices due to maintaining testing and learning integrity. If seen, heard or used, it will be confiscated and removed to the front office and only available for pick up from the building principal after a brief conference. If the course has an audio portion to the instruction, you will need to supply your own set of headphones. Music devices can be used with instructor permission. Class Integrity :

STREAMING : In accordance with the OSD policy no streaming is allowed unless it’s for educational purpose. Instructor permission is also needed. Examples of streaming: YouTube, online music.

Tests and Quizzes:  All testing (diagnostics, tests and quizzes) must be proctored by a Capital High School instructor. You may not take a test with another person's assistance. While testing, you are not allowed to leave the testing room. You are allowed three opportunities to take each quiz; other opportunities require proof of study guides, notes and instructor approval. A student is only allowed to take a test twice and a diagnostic one time.  You can "test out" of any unit you feel competent in by taking the "diagnostic" and earning a minimum of 80%. There is no penalty for failing a diagnostic. It will simply help you understand what you need to work on to improve. Diagnostics must be proctored. You may only take the diagnostic one time.
