High School Credits Credit Acquisition Credit is awarded by semester. For every class passed, one-half (.5) credit will be awarded. We operate on an 8 period day. We have 2 semesters each year. There are 8 credits available each year. There are 32 credits available in 4 years.

Distinguished Achievement To Graduate with Distinguished Achievement, a Student Must Complete Foundation Curriculum Requirements An Endorsement Algebra II To be considered in the “Top 10% of the Class” for automatic admission to a public university, a student must graduate with Distinguished Achievement.

Performance Acknowledgements Outstanding Performance(s) in: Dual Credit Bilingualism and Biliteracy Advanced Placement Exams PSAT, ACT, or SAT Business or Industry Certificate or License

Options under Foundation Graduation Plan High school students have the opportunity to graduate on the Foundation Plan with Endorsements or on just the Foundation Plan Students who graduate on the Foundation Plan are eligible to be accepted to a 4-year university in Texas

Students Entering 9th Grade Each student selects (in writing) an endorsement The student / parents are advised that endorsements can be changed at any time The student / parents are advised of the benefits of graduating with endorsements

Students Moving Down to FHSP May move to the Foundation Plan without Endorsements after their 10th Grade year Santo ISD will strongly encourage every student to graduate with an Endorsement Parent/Guardian must give written permission to move to the Foundation Plan

Speech is Not Required, but… A specific speech course will not be a requirement under the Foundation High School Program, but… To receive a high school diploma, a student must demonstrate proficiency, as determined by the district, in: •delivering clear verbal messages •choosing effective nonverbal behaviors •listening for desired results •applying valid critical-thinking and problem-solving processes •identifying, analyzing, developing, and evaluating communication skills needed for professional and social success in interpersonal situations, group interactions, and presentations

TSI – College Entrance Exam All students must be “TSI Ready” before they can take courses for college credit in Texas Students become TSI Ready by scoring high enough on the TSI exam that they do not have to take remedial classes upon enrollment into college
