Presentation transcript:

"Brockville" The City of Thousand Islands Thousand Islands is a chain of islets that are on both sides of the USA-Canada border in the St. Lawrence River. They emerge in the northeast of Lake Ontario. The islands stretch over 80 km downstream from Kingston to Cornwall Ontario.

The number of islands was determined using the criteria that any island must be above water level, 365 days a year, having an area greater than 900 cm ², and support at least one tree or shrub.

Coordinates: 44°35 ′ 00 ″ N - 75°41 ′ 00 ″ W °N °W Area: City km2 (8 sq mi) Population (2006): City 21,957 Website:

The Canadian islands are in the province of Ontario. The islands belong to the U.S. state of New York. The islands, more than 1.865, have sizes that range from 100 km ², through the tiniest, occupied by a single residence, to the smaller, uninhabited, mere rocky outcrops that serve as home to migratory birds. The area is popular for vacations, camping, and sailing, and often is called 'the capital of the canoes in the world. "

The commemorative bust erected in 1912 of General Isaac Brock in front of the Brockville Court House.
