Adding Sound Effects Change project view to “Timeline” (clock) Select “Audio” menu To hear a sound: –Double click on it –Select it, push play button Click and drag sound onto an audio line

Adjusting Volumes Select the audio clip to turn down Use the volume slider to lower the % –Be sure to use the slider (lower left corner) You may need to hide your dock! Option + AppleKey + D

Adding Music From a CD YOU MUST FOLLOW THIS ORDER! Put playhead at beginning of project Click on “Timeline View” (the clock) Click on “Audio” menu Insert CD Select the song you want Click “Place at Playhead” Save

What If The CD Doesn’t Appear In The Audio Menu? Did you follow the correct order? If you didn’t - eject your CD Re-Do the process in the correct order Is it a regular audio/music CD? Try quitting iMovie, eject CD, try again If it still doesn’t work, ask Mr. J

What If I Don’t Know Which Song? To preview a song: Select a song Push “play” button in the audio menu

Cropping Audio Clips Point to the beginning or end of the clip When pointer icon changes, click and drag

Fading Audio In/Out Select the song Go to “View” - select “Show Clip Volume Levels” Click the line on the song Purple square marks beginning of fade in/out Yellow dot marks end of the fade in/out Adjust as desired Go to “View” - “Show Clip Volume Levels” - deselect Save

And Finally… Be sure you fade to 0% Make sure the song stops playing! CROP! Make sure you don’t have unnecessary rises & dips in volume level Crop out unnecessary dead space at beginning/end of song Don’t raise the volume over 100%

How Do I Get My CD Out? At the top of the audio menu is an eject button If that doesn’t work, shrink iMovie Drag CD icon on desktop to trashcan on the dock Trashcan will turn to “eject symbol” If iTunes is open, close it, then eject
