TYPES OF INDICATORS Bolt is forward or ejection port cover is closed. Bolt is locked to the rear. Brass is obstructing chamber area (Usually indicates double feed or failure to eject). Brass stuck above the bolt. Audible pop (reduced recoil, or excessive smoke escaping from the chamber. May indicate a bullet is lodged in the bore). 11

CORRECTIVE ACTION 4.INDICATOR: BRASS IS STUCK OVER AND BEHIND THE BOLT FACE ACTION: - ATTEMPT TO PLACE THE WEAPON ON SAFE, - REMOVE THE MAGAZINE, - HOLD THE BOLT FACE TO THE REAR WITH A STURDY SLENDER OBJECT WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY PUSHING ON THE CHARGING HANDLE TO REMOVE THE OBSTRUCTING ROUND, - CHECK THE CHAMBER AREA, - CONDUCT A SPEED RELOAD, - SIGHT IN AND ATTEMPT TO FIRE. 15

CORRECTIVE ACTION 5. INDICATOR: AUDIBLE POP DURING TRAINING ACTION: - KEEP WEAPON ORIENTATED DOWN RANGE, - ATTEMPT TO PLACE THE WEAPON ON SAFE, - RAISE FREE HAND AND CALL FOR ASSISTANCE FROM COACH OR BLOCK NCO. DURING COMBAT OPERATIONS ACTION: - MAKE CONDITION 4 - REMOVE BOLT CARRIER GROUP - INSPECT BORE - INSERT CLEANING ROD, FROM BORE TO CHAMBER, TO CLEAR OBSTRUCTION 16
