DVDs DVD-R & DVD+R Similar to CD-R 4.7 GB DVD-RW &DVD+RW Similar to CD-RW 4.7GB All HP and Macintosh machines can burn a DVD

CD drives There are 3 sets of numbers labeled on CD-RW drives. 52X 32X 52X  1 st number 52X stands for Write Speed  2 nd number 32X stands for Re-Write speed (for CD-RW disks)  3 rd number 52X stands for read speed (what CD-ROMS do)

Burning - IC Labs Three available ways to burn Windows Explorer (Data CDs)  Right Click File  Send to CD/DVD Drive  Drag-n-Drop with Windows Explorer. Windows Media Player  Audio CD iTunes  Audio CD

windows explorer Insert CD/DVD Menu Appears  Select Open writable CD folder  A window labeled CD Drive (D:) will appear  Locate files needed to be burned  Drag/Paste Files to the CD Drive (D:) Folder  Right Click  Send Files to CD Drive (D:)

windows explorer On the CD Drive (D:) Folder File  Write these files to CD CD Writing Wizard Appears  Type CD Title  Next  At this point, the files will be written to the CD. Once the process is complete, it will automatically eject your CD from the drive. You can then hit “Finish” on the “Welcome to the CD Writing Wizard” window.

iTunes Insert CD/DVD Menu Appears  Create a CD (iTunes) iTunes Opens  Create a Playlist  File->New Playlist  Add songs by Drag and Drop

iTunes Burning Options Edit  Preferences  Advanced  Burning  DATA  AUDIO  MP3 Choose settings  Click ok

iTunes Select Playlist Click Burn Disc Icon View Progress through the status bar located towards the top center.

USB Drives Plug Jump Drive into a USB port A menu appears Click Open Folder to View Files Drag or paste your file. Removing Jump Drive Click on the Safely Remove Hardware Icon in The task bar Select your drive Wait for the computer to allow you to safely remove it

Virtual Student Server Space Click on ‘My Computer’ Click on your K/J Drive (Displays SSO ID)  Simply drag or paste your files in this drive (up to 500MB). You can access your K-Drive on any computer on campus. You can access your Virtual Student Server Space at home using SSH (Secure Telnet). You still will need to use your SSO ID and Password Download program  ex.html ex.html

SSH-File Transfer Using Secure Telnet Download the program from ml ml Click on quick connect Type in an address and your password in the window that will appear.

SSH-File Transfer Using Secure Telnet  Click on New File Transfer Icon  This window will appear: If you want to make changes, you have to copy (right click on the mouse and download) the file from SSH application and save it on your desktop. When the file is finished, drag and drop the file from your desktop to SSH application window.

Open your mailbox. Click on new message.  To attach the file, click on ‘browse’ and to locate the file.  Click ‘attach’ and make sure the file is attached.  Click ‘close.’  Send the message by typing your own address. Browse Attach Send Close
