A report by Adam and Tautvydas

What is it? It is an octopus. It is an invertebrate. This means that it does not have a backbone.

What does it look like? An octopus has eight arms called tentacles. They have a round shaped head. Octopuses have three hearts and one huge brain.

Where does it live? Octopuses live in the sea. They are bottom dwellers. Octopuses may live in holes or crevices of rocks.

What does it eat? The octopus is a predator. It hunts at night. Its favourite food are crabs, mollusks and crayfish.

How does it defend itself? Camouflage: The octopus can change the colour of it’s skin to blend in to the rock or sand.

How does it defend itself? Ink: Octopuses shoot ink into the water. The ink forms a cloud that hides the octopus.

How does it defend itself? Poison: Some octopuses are poisonous. They eject venom into their attackers. Warning! Some octopuses sting humans.

Octopus for dinner? People all over the world eat octopus. I have tried it and it is delicious!

Thank you! We hope you enjoyed our report!
