It seems to be the difference between using the SU field code (what you get from using the field dropdown) vs. the DE (descriptor) field code (auto-supplied by choosing from the Subjects index list). GE vs. ZG doesn’t seem to matter. (See result numbers below) UGH!!  UH OH!! It’s NOT that the Index lists search puts double quotes around the terms (which I was convinced that it was).
