August 2011: 1 st Mission: Beaumont – Kohthom Assessment and Project Definition (Technical Assistance Mission): August/September 2011 Objectives: 1.Meeting with Kohthom Stakeholders 2.Collect Information 3.Capacity Building / Knowledge Sharing Workshops 4.LED Strategic Plan

Assessment and Project Definition (Technical Assistance Mission) Meetings with stakeholders – Government officials – Businesses / Agriculture – Community August 2011: 1 st Mission: Beaumont – Kohthom

Collected baseline information – people – 86% of District’s economy is agriculture 56% of crops are rice – Major employers in the District include: Garment factory Casino / hotel – Competitive electricity rate (imported from Vietnam) – 60% of population and 7 out of 11 communes are located in a disadvantaged area of the District (East side of the District) – District flooded 6 months \ dry for 6 months. Impact on agriculture. – Districts 1 st experience with International partners
