Main Points Of The Lesson All of us eat food daily. Food helps to grow. It gives us energy. The diet which contains adequate amounts of all the essential nutrients like carbohydrates fats, proteins, minerals and vitamins, sufficient for normal growth is called a balanced diet. Different food items have different tastes like sweet, sour, salty, bitter, etc. Some food items have strong smell like onion, garlic, saunf etc.

Our tongue has tiny bumps called taste buds which help us to taste the food we eat. (1) Taste buds in front of the tongue taste sweet things. (2) Taste buds at the back of tongue taste bitter things. (3) Taste buds at the back of both sides taste sour things (4) Taste buds in the front of both sides taste salty things.

Rules of Good Digestion (i) Eat clean and fresh food. Eat a balanced diet. (ii) Eat your meals at fixed times. (iii) Chew the food well before swallowing it. (iv) Keep your mouth closed while chewing food so that you do not swallow air along with your food. (v) Do not over ear. (vi) Brush your teeth and rinse your mouth before and after each meal.

Energy & Strength Too much vomiting and loose motions cause loss of energy. The glucose drip is given for quick strength without eating. Digestive juices help in the digestion of food. Our stomach churns the food foe digestion inside our body. Our food habits change with time. It is the right of every child to get proper food. In our country many poor people die of hunger.
