Little Miss Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet Eating a Big Mac and fries Along came a spider and sat down beside her 'Yuck', it said, 'I prefer flies'.

A Knotty Problem A scarf for a giraffe Would be forty feet long But how would a giraffe Know how to put one on?

One Two by Ashley Taylor One, two, Who are you Three, four, do your chore Five, six, fix the mix Seven, eight, Clean your plate Nine, ten, I have a hen named Pen

Tiny Tim I had a little turtle, his name was Tiny Tim. I put him in the bathtub, to teach him how to swim. He drank up all the water, he ate up all the soap. And now when he talks, there's a bubble in his throat.

Peanut Butter A peanut sat on a railroad track, his heart was all aflutter. Around the bend came number ten. Toot, toot, peanut butter

There Was a Little Turtle There was a little turtle, He lived in a box, He swam in a puddle He climbed on the rocks. He snapped at a mosquito, He snapped at a flea, He snapped at a minnow, He snapped at me. He caught the mosquito, He caught the flea, He caught the minnow, But he didn’t catch me!

Touch Your Ears Touch your ears. Touch your nose. Now bend down and touch your toes. Wiggle your finger. Turn around. Now bend down and touch the ground. Clap your hand – 1,2,3 Now see how quiet you can be. Janice Hayes Andrews

Slippery Sam Slippery Sam was a slippery seal And a slippery seal was he; He slithered and slid to the sandy shore Then he slipped back into the sea.

Sea Animals What do you see in the sea? Animals moving free! Snails and whales Using their tails. Seals and eels Looking for meals. Catfish, flatfish Chasing fat fish. What do you see in the sea? Animals moving free!

Hermit the Crab Hermit the crab Had a cute little home, He carried on his back Wherever he did roam. But one day he woke up And his home was too small, So he had to go shopping In the underwater mall. He found an empty shell That comfortably would fit. He moved right in His new home was a hit! Gail Nettles and Kitty Ainsworth

Plink, plink, plink, plink Water drips into the sink It’s hard for me to think and think With water dripping, plink, plink. Drip, drip, drip, drip I’m going crazy, I’m going to flip Into a sleep I’ll never slip With that water going drip. Bloop, bloop, bloop, bloop The waters filled the sink like soup From this night I won’t recoup With water dripping bloop, bloop. Plink, Plink, Plink

Turtles, turtles everywhere Turtles, turtles in my hair They’re in my soup, they’re on my bread They’re in my shorts and on my head Turtles, turtles on the wall Turtles, turtles down the hall They’re in my room, they’re on my bed They’re on my pillow and on my spread Turtles, turtles in my drawer Turtles, turtles I want no more I’ll make them leave, they won’t I dread I fear those turtles are in my head Turtles Turtles Everywhere

Firefly Firefly, firefly, Wow, how you glow! Under your body You light up below! Firefly, firefly, Wow, how you shine! At night in the dark I can see you just fine!

Snail He cannot fly. He cannot hop. He cannot run at all. But you should see The way he goes Slowly up the wall. He cannot skip Or race about. He has one way to go; And as I watched him I must say He's good at going slow.

Once I Saw a Little Bird Once I saw a little bird Come hop, hop, hop. So I cried, "Little bird, Will you stop, stop, stop?“ I was going to the window To say, "How do you do?" But he shook his little tail, And away he flew.

I'm a little monkey in the tree Swinging by my tail so merrily I can leap and fly for tree to tree I have lots of fun you see. I'm a little monkey, watch me play Munching on bananas everyday.

Seven Wonders of the World I wonder why the sun is hot I wonder why it rains a lot I wonder why the sky is blue I wonder why a cow goes moo I wonder why the clouds skip by I wonder why a bird can fly I wonder will the lesson end Before I'm driven round the bend.

Books I like books I really do - Books with stories And pictures, too. Books of birds And things that grow Books of people We should know. Books of animals And places, too, I like books I really do!

In a Story Book At night when sunshine goes away, And it's too dark for me to play, I like to come inside, and look For new friends in a story book.

I’m Staying Home from School Today by Kenn Nesbitt I’m staying home from school today. I’d rather be in bed, pretending that I have a pain that’s pounding in my head. I’ll say I have a stomachache. I’ll claim I’ve got the flu. I’ll shiver like I’m cold and hold my breath until I’m blue. I’ll fake a cough. I’ll fake a sneeze. I’ll say my throat is sore. If necessary, I can throw a tantrum on the floor. I’m sure I’ll get away with it. Of that, there’s little doubt. But even so, I really hope my students don’t find out.

My Parents Are Pretending by Ted Scheu I’m pretty sure my parents are pretending they are sick. I know because I taught them both to do that little trick. You blow your nose and hold your head and claim your brain is breaking. And so, a pro like me would know my folks are clearly faking. A little thing I learned in school convinced me I am right: My parents are supposed to meet my principal tonight.

Now That I Can Read I used to need somebody To sit and read to me. I'd look at every page they read And listen carefully. But now that I am in first grade, I'm filling up a shelf With stories, poems, and other books That I can read myself.

Reading A story is a special thing The ones that I have read They do not stay inside the books They stay inside my head.
