Procedures for Skinning the Cat Pinch the skin just below the ribs Using scissors , make the first mid-ventral incision at the diaphragm. Cut through skin only Push scissors toward head and open inside cat Lift the skin with forceps and separate the skin from the underlying muscles Scrape the fascia to loosen the skin. Separate the skin from the muscle, while continuously pulling the skin laterally Use a blunt probe, or our fingers to facilitate separation. Towards the end fingers will work best Leave the skin intact around the genital and anal areas and tail. Remove all of the other skin and discard. Turn the cat over. Complete the skinning of the limbs and the entire dorsal surface from the base of the skull, neck, thorax and abdomen. Soak paper towels and wrap around the body. *The only parts left unskined are the head, paws, genitals and tail.

Turn the cat over. Complete the skinning of the limbs and the entire dorsal surface from the base of the skull, neck, thorax and abdomen.
