Training Issues  During case-finding audits determined “circuit-riding/low volume” facilities are underreporting  Underreporting may be due to current training not meeting reporters’ training needs

Solution: Computer-based Training  Adapt training -permit delivery through web access.  This CBT module is expected to -lower MCR training costs -increase registry efficiency -and, by extension, increase reporting of cancer cases to MCR

Plan of Action  CDC/NPCR unobligated funds  Faculty member at UMC Health Informatics worked with MCR staff to develop a CBT module that included a post-test  Based on basic cancer registry training case-finding module  Alpha testing in-house and at 3 sites  Accessible through MCR’s website

 UMC’s Department of Health Management and Informatics’ (HMI) DcomplX (Dx) (web-based information portal)  Secure access to training materials provided on the Dx site Technical Aspects

 The secure logon permits tracking of end users’ utilization for evaluation of the CBT  It also permits tracking of the training materials in order to generate a Certificate of Completion Continued…

 This project is designed to meet current MCR training needs and provide a template and system by which future needs can be rapidly met
