REGULATIONS OSHA is the federal agency responsible for workplace safety. Based in Washington, D.C., OSHA writes and enforces the safety regulations. There are hundreds of OSHA regulations dealing with worker safety. Right to know is one of the those regulations. It can be found at: 29 CFR

REGULATIONS MIOSHA is the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration based in Lansing, Michigan. The MIOSHA regulations must be as stringent or more stringent than the federal regulations. Right to know has been adopted by reference from OSHA.

REGULATIONS Right to Know is based on a simple concept –Employees have the need & right to know of the hazards and identities of the chemicals they are exposed to when working and what protective measures they can take to protect themselves from exposures.

REGULATIONS The regulations state that all employees that work with hazardous chemicals be trained on those chemicals. DEFINITION: "Hazardous chemical" means any chemical which is a physical hazard or a health hazard.

MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS - MSDS The entire MSDS should be read before using the product, however, the items listed in red on the previous slide are going to be the most important information to the end user with the greatest impact on personal health and safety.

MSDS can be “portrait” or “landscape” and the order may be different for each one. For example, first aid may come before fire and explosion information.
