The Mini-Education Pipeline “From the Cradle to College and/or Career” The PCN Life Chances Campus: The PCN Early Childhood Center & Life Chances Center Futures Academy (PS 37) & MLK Multicultural Institute (PS 39) East & Bennett High Schools College and/or Career G oal: Provide students in the PCN with a quality education by establishing a seamless link among the PCN Early Childhood Center and the pipeline schools, thereby making it possible to carry participating students from the cradle to college and/or career. By setting up a network of schools, anchored by an early childhood center, which are linked together and that feed students to each sequential school, a controlled and uninterrupted continuum of educational experiences are produced that will help students achieve academic excellence. Housing and Neighborhood Development Planning Focus Create a Sustainable Community based on Green Design and LEED Neighborhood Standards. Develop mixed Income Housing Units, including market rate, with High Energy Efficiency and Indoor Air Quality. Design Neighborhood as a Healthy Community with trees, shrubbery and green space. Develop a walkable neighborhood with housing placement, arterial layout, streetscape and destinations that encourage physical activity. Create “complete” streets with shared space for bikers, joggers, pedestrians and transit. Establish “neighborhood center,” where residents congregate, interact, learn, recreate and have access to support services that help them solve problems and reach their potential. Establish Neighborhood Commercial Corridor Create Connections to Jobs and opportunities in and Near the Neighborhood, as well as Throughout the Metropolitan Region. Establish a Transportation Hub that Connect Residents to Centers of Work, Shopping, Service, Recreation and Entertainment.

Building on BMHA’s Assets: Infill Housing, Rehab and Catalytic Development Connect owners in surrounding neighborhoods to public and private programs that will help improve their property. Connect residents in surrounding neighborhoods to recreational, health and human services in the Perry Choice Neighborhood. Assist with the development of small projects, such as community public art, which will enhance the visual image of the community.
