Leadership Advisory Group June 24, 2014 – Online Meeting Sponsored by the Idaho Library Association and the Idaho Commission for Libraries

Welcome Through recent discussions of the Continuing Education Advisory Group and feedback from the participants of the 2014 Leadership Development Summit, the Idaho library community identified a great need for a to provide sustainable leadership development activities to meet the growing demand of the Idaho library community.

Project Goals 1. Promote a leadership culture within the Idaho library community. 2. Provide leadership training resources for all levels of staff in all Idaho libraries.

Idaho Library Association Past Support – Approached by ICfL in January – ILA Board officially approved participation in February – Made suggestions about potential Leadership Summit attendees Future Participation – President/President-Elect participate as Ex-Officio members – ILA maintains webpage on ILA site of leadership training opportunities – ILA creates and maintains Google group listserv for Advisory Board – Signed MOU agreeing to such

Advisory Group Members

The Charge Create a sustainable leadership development program for members of the Idaho library community, which includes evaluation/assessment tools and a timeline for reporting to stakeholders; Identify and develop delivery methods/tools to share information about leadership development activities to members of the Idaho library community; Promote a leadership culture through the Idaho library community; and Review and recommend changes to the Leadership Advisory Group charge annually.

Expectations Serve a term of 12 months, with a maximum of two consecutive terms; Commit to approximately five (5) to ten (10) hours per month; Meet via regular face-to-face and online meetings; and Communicate and respond to communications via tools agreed upon by the group. Review and recommend changes to charge on annual basis.

Work Assignments Reading Assignments: Environmental Scan Do an environmental scan in your library/region in regard to unmet leadership needs/target audiences to ascertain the summit findings. LEADERSHIP – Target Audiences / Unmet Needs List Identify 3 target audiences and 2unmet training needs for each audience

July Meeting Meeting Objectives Narrow and prioritize identified target audiences and unmet training needs. Assign work groups to develop objectives, activities, and evaluation tools. Logistics Boise Public Library – “Fish Tank” Meeting Room on 3 rd Floor in Administration – July 15 – 9 am to 4 pm -- Enter on River Street – ring back door bell -- take elevator to 3 rd floor Out of Town Guests Rooms will be booked for you at Marriott Residence Inn off of Capitol – about 5 blocks from the library (breakfast is provided by hotel) Mileage reimbursed – air travel/reimbursed. Per diem at $30 per day
