Interest Inventory 1.6 Objectives: What are the steps involved in successfully setting and achieving one’s career goal? Evaluate potential career areas based upon the results of an interest inventory test.

There are 1000’s of jobs and careers. How does one choose what is best for them? Start with a self-assessment: process helpful in establishing an individuals wants and needs in career planning. Do you want a…? Job = employment to earn money. Or Career = A commitment to a profession which requires continued training and offers a clear path for occupational growth.

What do you value? Each person has different values which guide their personal interests. When considering careers, indivduals must think about what is desirable, worthwhile, and important to them. Is it….? Income, qualities (personal interaction), location, education, family, time, religion……..

What Career Cluster will interest you? Career Clusters= are career paths with many opportunities. Culinary Arts: Chef, Food photographer, Food Editor, restaurant entrepreneur. Marketing Degree: Marketing research, advertising, sales, public relations (pr), or management.

Tools are available to help in this decision process, such as.. Interest inventory tests. i.e. Career Cruising They perform self assessments of personal interests and values to suggest potential career paths, for individuals.
