ERECTING CANOPY NET The following eight slides show the sequence of erecting canopy net.

Slide 1 The standing cables have been erected, a wire has been inserted into the selvedged edge and the net laid out on the ground.

Slide 2 The loose netting is now run out over the cables. Note the PVC pipe to help the net over the cross cables

Slide 3 The wire in the edge of the net is now starting to be attached to the standing cables

Slide 7 The net is now attached at the corners and the wire tensioned.

Slide 8 The tensioned net is now attached to each post. All that remains is for the edge wire to be attached to the cable using special clips.

HAIL NET This hail net installation has reached the same stage as the last slide. It now needs to be clipped off.

CLIPS These clips attach the edge wire to the cable. They are designed to fail before the cable and structure in extreme circumstances. Thus you don’t lose everything and the net can be re-clipped.

QUAD NET Often used by lychee and stone fruit growers, it is NOT hail net but can give some hail protection.

6mm SPLICE A pair of these splices are the easiest way to join cable and wire.
