Godwin Middle School Dress Code The philosophy… Students are responsible for dressing in a manner which does not disrupt the educational process. Dress MUST reflect concern for health, safety, and professional criteria of their technical area as determined by the teacher. Godwin Middle School Dress Code What is permitted? • Collared shirts, polo shirts, T-shirts, turtlenecks, sweaters, sweatshirts, pants, jeans, capri pants, skirts, skorts, shorts, jumpers and dresses • Skirts and shorts must reach the end of your fingertips when standing straight up with your arms to your sides. • Hooded sweatshirts, provided the hood is not worn • Shirts, tops, blouses or dresses that have sleeves or cover the area from neckline to shoulder • Tops must overlap bottom garment. Acceptable Male Attire… • Shorts of acceptable length • Shorts and jeans worn at proper waistline • Collared shirts and T-shirts are acceptable • Appropriate footwear •Any undergarment showing is unacceptable Godwin Middle School Dress Code

Acceptable Female Attire… • Shorts, skirts and skorts must reach the end of your fingertips when standing straight up with your arms to your sides. • Tops must cover the area from neckline to shoulder and overlap the bottom garment. • Collared shirts and T-shirts are acceptable Godwin Middle School Dress Code

Dress Code Consequence Progression •If the student is found in violation, the student will be given the opportunity to change. • If the student does not have a change clothes, we will call the student’s parents for a change of clothes or to pick up the student for the day. • If parents are unable to pick up the student, the student will be provided a clean, appropriate physical education uniform to wear for the remainder of the day. If necessary, zip ties will be provided to hold up pants when belts are unavailable. • Students will exchange clothing provided by the school for their own clothing at the end of the day. Dress Code Consequence Progression The following is the consequence progression if the student continues to dress inappropriately: • 1st Offense- Warning, change of clothes, parent contact by teacher •2nd Offense- Change of clothes, parent contact by admin. •3rd Offense- Change of clothes, parent contact ,1 hour afterschool detention 4th Offense – Change of clothes, parent contact ,2 hour afterschool detention 5th Offense – Change of clothes, parent contact ,Saturday detention, may not participate in extra-curricular activities or assemblies.
