Honduras hasn’t always been an independent country. In 1525, Honduras was invaded by the Spanish navy, who was led by Gonzalez Davila. Spain wanted more territory, so attacked Honduras to make a larger empire. It succeeded for a while! Until 1821, the people of Honduras were speaking Spanish and were ruled by Spain, but in 1821, Honduras became part of the first Mexican empire. Then, after two years, it became part of The United Provinces of Central American Federation. Finally, from1838 to the present day, Honduras has been an independent country. By Dylan Gregory-Jones
