When is enough enough? BY: Sara Herrera Period:D

Abusive relationships are characterized by extreme jealousy, lack of intimacy, sexual compulsion, disloyalty, verbal abuse, threats, lies, broken promises, physical violence, and control.

What Is Abuse? Abuse can be physical, emotional, verbal or sexual. Physical abuse : Any form of violence from hitting, punching, pulling hair, pushing and kicking. Abuse happens in dating relationships and simple friendships.

Emotional abuse: Is the act of teasing, bullying, humiliating, threats, intimidation, putdowns, control and betrayal. These are all harmful forms of emotional abuse. Just because you cant see them doesn’t mean their not really there.

Sexual abuse: It can happen to either guy or girl. Its being forced into any type of sexual experience any physical contact that makes you feel uncomfortable.

Rihanna plays the role of a victim who is involved in an abusive relationship. She sings… "Just gonna stand there and watch me burn But that's alright because I like the way it hurts Just gonna stand there and watch me burn But that's alright because I love the way you lie." Eminem promises that he'll change, but then says he'll set the house fire, as many abusive relationships do not end some abusers will never change. “Love the Way You Lie" by Eminem and Rihanna

"Mean" by Taylor Swift Taylor Swift describes an emotionally abusive relationship. She sings… "You, with your words like knives and weapons and swords that you use against me You, have knocked me off my feet again, got me feeling like a nothing." Also she says that one day she will make it far in love and the abuser will always be "mean."

“Pearl” By: Katy Perry This song is from the point of view of a victim who has gotten out of an abusive relationship and is now watching someone else being abused. Katy Perry sings… "Cause I used to be a shell Yeah, I let him rule my world My world, oh yeah But I woke up and grew strong And I can still go on And no one can take my pearl."

Reviving Ophelia is a story/movie about a teenage girl who is a victim to an abusive boyfriend and staying because she believes it is true love. The movie showed all of the recognized signs or an abusive relationship She goes through emotional and physical pain, she gets bloody noses, bruised arms, punches to the face, lying to her family that everything is okay, and the untrustworthy part of a relationship (He constantly texts where are you and why didn’t you text me back five minuets ago). She stuck in this because she thinks its right. Reviving Ophelia
