At Fellowship Church, there are two things that we continue to do as Jesus did when He was on the Earth

COMMUNION & BAPTISM

Both proclaim the Gospel: “Jesus died on the cross and Jesus rose from the dead”

But what do they mean and are we to continue these things 2000 years later?

1 Corinthians 11:18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.

1 Corinthians 11:20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.

1 Corinthians 11:33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.

What We Have In Common Is Jesus Christ!

What We Come Together For Is Jesus Christ!

So, How Are We Supposed To JUST DO IT?

JUST… Get Along! JUST… Get Along! 1 Corinthians 1: For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. 12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

JUST… Get Along! No Divisions No Factions No Politics No Divisions No Factions No Politics ‘Cause if you do these, there’s No Worship and there’s No Point!

JUST… Get Along! Divisiveness, Resentment and Stinking Attitudes toward each other, makes Communion reprehensible!

JUST… Get Fellowshipping! JUST… Get Fellowshipping! 1 Corinthians 11: When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper. 21 For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.

JUST… Get Fellowshipping! 1 Corinthians 11: What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? what shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.

JUST… Get Fellowshipping! Acts 2: And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

JUST… Get Fellowshipping! Acts 2: And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

JUST… Get Fellowshipping! Acts 4: And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

JUST… Get Fellowshipping! Acts 4: And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

JUST… Get Fellowshipping! In the early Church, Communion was often preceded by what was called a “Love Feast”

JUST… Get Fellowshipping! People would fellowship together in the Unity of the Holy Spirit

JUST… Get Fellowshipping! They would bring food and share with everyone

JUST… Get Fellowshipping! This sharing of food represented their being unified together in the Body of Christ!

JUST… Get Fellowshipping! Don’t Be Selfish!

JUST… Get Fellowshipping! Do Be Brothers & Sisters! Do Be Sharing With One Another Do Be Submitting To One Another Do Be Serving One Another Do Be Sharing With One Another Do Be Submitting To One Another Do Be Serving One Another

JUST… Get Focused! JUST… Get Focused! 1 Corinthians 11: For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

JUST… Get Focused! 1 Corinthians 11: After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

JUST… Get Focused! Do This In REMEMBRANCE Of Jesus!

JUST… Get Focused! We come together and remember what Jesus did for us on the cross

JUST… Get Focused! 1 Corinthians 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

JUST… Get Focused! The BREAD reminds us of His physical body

JUST… Get Focused! Matthew 26:67 Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands

JUST… Get Focused! Matthew 27: Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified. 27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.

JUST… Get Focused! Matthew 27: And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. 29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!

JUST… Get Focused! Matthew 27: And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head. 31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.

JUST… Get Focused! We must NEVER forget the physical suffering that Jesus endured on our behalf

JUST… Get Focused! The JUICE reminds us of His shed blood

JUST… Get Focused! John 19: And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: 18 Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

JUST… Get Focused! John 19: After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. 29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.

JUST… Get Focused! John 19: When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

JUST… Get Focused! John 19: Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. 33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:

JUST… Get Focused! John 19: But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. 35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.

JUST… Get Focused! We must NEVER forget the worth of Jesus’ priceless blood that was shed for us!

JUST… Get Focused! Hebrews 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

JUST… Get Focused! Focusing on the selfless death of Jesus Christ, the Son of God and our Savior, ought to be enough to rebuke the selfishness and senselessness that permeates so much of the church today!

JUST… Get Focused! For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. REMEMBER 9/11 REMEMBER John 3:16 NEVER FORGET!

JUST… Get Right! JUST… Get Right! 1 Corinthians 11: Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

JUST… Get Right! 1 Corinthians 11: For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

JUST… Get Right! 1 Corinthians 11: For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

JUST… Get Right! Coming Together Ain’t A Spectator Sport!!!

JUST… Get Right! It’s A Huddle!  What are you putting into it?  What effort are you making?  What are you bringing to the table? It’s A Huddle!  What are you putting into it? hat effort are you making?  W What are you bringing to the table?

JUST… Get Right! Examine yourself, NOT somebody else’s self!

JUST… Get Right! Prepare yourself to give Jesus Christ the worship He deserves!

JUST… Get Right! Isaiah 6:5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

JUST… Get Right! Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

JUST… Get Real! JUST… Get Real! 1 Corinthians 11: Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another. 34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.

JUST… Get Real! Communion (coming together) is about Love and Fellowship with Jesus and Believers

JUST… Get Real! It’s not about food and drink

JUST… Get Real! Communion helps us, on a regular basis, to put Jesus and others before our own priorities and preferences

JUST… Get Real! Realize that you can eat anywhere

JUST… Get Real! But if you are so centered on the food, the Bible says… “Stay At Home!”
