The Government of Man 1. Origin Man is a product of chance. He belongs to no one. Man is God's creation. Therefore he is God's property. Man's origin is irrelevant. He is the property of the state. 2. Purpose 3. Source of Value The purpose of the individual is to serve himself. The purpose of the individual is love relationship with God and one another. The purpose of the individual is to serve the state. The value of the individual is determined by what society thinks of him/her. The value of the individual is God-given and based on His design and created purpose. The value of the individual is determined by his position or his service to the state. 1:4

The Government of Man 4. Value No standard of value; All may be valuable or maybe some. Arbitrarily determined. Since all men have the same design and purpose, all men are equally valuable. Some are more valuable than others. Ascribed by ruler. 5. Authority 6. Civil Law Individual controlled by own passions. Man is to be Self- Governing in submission to the Law of God. The individual is controlled by fear and force. Civil law is based on the will of the majority. Laws are written and changed frequently. Civil laws are based on God's Law Civil law is based on the will of the ruler. Ruler/state is above the law. 2:4

The Government of Man 7. Justice Uncertainty before the law because there is no absolute. All men are judged impartially before the law. God's Word is absolute. Inequality before the law. The will of the ruler is absolute. 8. Role of State The individual feels superior to the state, but submits grudgingly as the state promises to take care of him and give him what he wants. The individual is superior to the state and submits willingly because he knows that the state exists to serve him and the individual. The state is superior to the individual. The individual submits by force. 3:4
