Is your business a monopoly, oligopoly, monopolistic competition, or perfect competition? Jennifer: Monopolistic competition. Similar but not exact matches for the content.

What are some of the fixed costs of your business? Matt P: Tangible resources: studio, camera, audio gear, scripts, teleprompts, a non-linear editing suite, production lights, and anything else to accompany a traditional television studio. Intangible resources: amount of work needed by producers, writers and researchers, broadcasters, cameramen, editors and designers, production assistants, and video encoders.

Does your business have any network effect? If yes, what are they? How do they work? Tim: More people who use the channel, the more people will watch the channel. The more people who watch the channel, the more advertisers will be willing to promote their products on the channel. Etc Etc.

Does your business have any network effect? If yes, what are they? How do they work? Scott: Has no networking effect because the end of product is essentially a movie. The product does not become more valuable as more people use it.

Who are your customers? What is the habit of your audience? Laurel: Network stations (ABC, NBC, WCVB, FOX, NECN). Cable networks (CNN, CSPAN, MSNBC, Fox News Channel). Audience (habits of the audience).

Are there switching costs and search costs? If yes, what are they? Scott: CGI animation is such a specialized field that certain movies need a certain feel and finding an alternative production studio could ruin the movie.

Is there proprietary technology involved? Ryan: Emerging 3D technology. 3D glasses.

Does your business have any special resources? Vanessa: We are very close with film major programs at arts school in the Boston area.

How does movie rating affect your business? Mike: An important part of distribution; can appeal to a certain distribution company. Since the MPAA and volunteers operate the movie rating system, we feel that this may or may not affect Tri-Town Production company.
