Career Highlights Began as Secretary/Receptionist in a nursing facility while paying way through college, left the company twenty years later having worked as an Administrator, Regional Director of Operations, in various corporate positions and finally serving as Chief Operating Officer. During that tenure also formed a home health company, pharmacy company and managed an assisted living company. Founded the first of two successful skilled nursing operating companies in Virginia in In five years it grew to thirteen facilities through the building of replacement facilities, acquisition and management contracts. Sold controlling interest in 1999 and continued to serve as Regional President of that organization until In 2001 founded CCR, Inc. owners and operators of 11 skilled care facilities with a 12th under construction

Company Overview CCR provides medical care for short term rehab patients and long term stay residents. Founded in October 2001 with myself and 2 full-time employees we now own and operate 11 skilled nursing facilities in Virginia and have 1 under construction. We employ approximately 1500 people and take care of approximately 1400 long term and short term stay patients. Revenues this year will be 100 million.

OPPORTUNITIES IN HEALTH CARE The recession has not impacted health care nearly to the degree it has affected other industries Even with the uncertainty of health care reform opportunities in health care abound The aging population and longer life span make senior services particularly appealing Careers in skilled care include: Center Administrators (must obtain a license) Accounting - Chief Financial Officers, Controllers, Billing Specialists, Business Office Managers, Payroll Specialists IT - Electronic Medical Records will increase the demand for IT specialists Human Resource Directors Corporate Purchasing Directors Corporate and Facility Risk Managers

OPPORTUNITIES IN HEALTH CARE (continued) Mid Level Management - Marketing/Admissions Director, Environmental Services Directors, Activities Directors, Dietary Managers Ethics and Compliance Officers Many of these same opportunities are available in hospital organizations, rehab hospitals and larger assisted living companies In-home services are desired by the consumer and are being promoted by the State and Federal policy makers. Many new service companies are being introduced and there is opportunity to start your own business. Personal care services, telehealth, assistive devices are emerging

STARTING YOUR OWN BUSINESS You must be willing to take a risk - be sure it's a calculated risk. Understand your market/product Determine how much it will cost you to produce the product/service – cash needs cripple many start up businesses. Worry about making the payroll can stifle creativity. Determine what the minimum is you can live on while your business is in a start up phase Develop a business plan with a one year and three year projection Secure financing/equity - plan realistically but conservatively. Banking relationships will be very important to you.

STARTING YOUR OWN BUSINESS (continued) Minimize your risk by setting up your company in the legal entity that makes the most sense for you i.e. limited liability company, vs. partnership or corporation - find an attorney who specializes in corporate law If you have partners make sure you have the same vision for the company and management structure Taking care of financial reporting, cash management, taxes and so forth are paramount - hire a good accountant and be involved You set the tone. Set high standards for your product/service, yourself and your employees. Finally, make sure it's something you enjoy doing. It will be a central part of your life.
