DVA’s Mission ‘To support those who serve or have served in defence of our nation and commemorate their service and sacrifice’

DVA’S Mission Who does DVA support? Veterans, war widows and widowers Serving and former Australian Defence Force members Eligible Australian Federal Police members with overseas service Their dependants and carers

DVA’s Mission How does DVA support them? Providing compensation and income support entitlements Delivering health care and rehabilitation services Fulfilling Australia’s commitment to remember and honour those who serve our nation

DVA Offices DVA has offices in each capital city in all States and Territories Veterans’ Affairs Network shopfront offices in a number of regional centres throughout Australia Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Services offices in all capital cities and a number of regional centres

Veteran Community DVA’s health treatment population (consisting of Gold and White Card holders) is steadily declining While veteran numbers are decreasing, their healthcare requirements become more complex as they age Average age of treatment pop. is 76> years Approx. 2/3 of treatment pop. is 80 years+ WW2 veterans/widows/widowers still remain largest proportion of treatment population

DVA Health Cards (for treatment in Australia only) Gold Card holders (treatment for all conditions) White Card holders (treatment for specific conditions) Orange Card holders (pharmaceuticals only)

Gold Card Eligibility Eligibility depends on: Australian Defence Force service (serving or ex-serving members) Other specified conditions

Gold Card Provides: Treatment for all medical conditions including: Hospital Medical Pharmaceuticals Aids and Appliances Allied Health

White Card Eligibility Eligibility depends on: Australian or Commonwealth defence service Medical conditions accepted as service related Other specified conditions

White Card Provides: Treatment for specific medical conditions accepted by DVA including: Hospital Medical Pharmaceuticals Aids and Appliances Allied Health

Orange Card Eligibility British, Commonwealth and Allied WWII veterans and mariners with qualifying service who: are aged 70 or over; and have been resident in Australia for 10 years or more

Orange Card Provides: Pharmaceutical Allowance Access to the Repatriation Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (RPBS) This Card is for pharmaceuticals only, not for medical or other health care treatment

Eligibility Checks Providers can check a veteran’s eligibility for health services by phoning DVA: (metro callers) (regional callers)
