Test Administration Procedures Before Testing Inventory the test materials to verify the accuracy of the content Use packing slip found in box 1 to verify the materials received. If additional materials are needed, complete the Request for Additional Material form. Scan and email the form to OAA-Assessments@bcps.md.k12.us

Test Administration Procedures Before Testing Identify all students participating in testing Verify that you have a pre-printed labels for all students being tested If you do not have a pre-printed label, you will have to bubble the demographic page located on the front of the student answer sheet Prepare for students testing with accommodations (Review IEP/504 Plans) Work with your principal to develop your schools Testing Schedule Submit your schools Testing Schedule to OAA via e-Forms before September 22, 2014 (See Handout Directions for Submitting Testing Schedule)

Test Administration Procedures Before Testing Train all staff participating in TerraNova Test administration Share the Testing Schedule with your staff Review test directions with test examiners Review your procedures for disseminating and collecting testing materials Review symbols used during testing Review allowable manipulatives Emphasize the importance of test security before, during, and after testing

Tips for Preparing Students for Testing Before Testing Help students approach test in a positive way Explain the purpose of taking assessments Point out that some test questions may be difficult Reassure students that they will be given ample time Be sure that students understand the directions and how to mark answers Encourage students to attempt all questions. Be careful not to imply that they should guess randomly Students must mark only one response for a question and erase completely any response they do not want.

Test Administration Procedures During Testing Remember that there are specific directions for administering the test. Be sure to review the test directions in advance. You will see: Test direction symbols showing information to be read aloud Symbols concerning the timing of the test Places where you may want to use a test book to show sample questions Sections that indicate where calculators may not be used

Test Administration Procedures During Testing Make sure that you accurately post start, remaining, and end times, for all sessions. Point out various locations of the “STOP” signs within the test Be very careful to check that students do not skip or overlook any test questions. Remind students to answer every question. Remind students that they must mark only in the spaces provided. Pencil marks in the margins will delay processing of the test materials.

Test Administration Procedures After Testing After testing, the Group Information Sheet is needed for each group tested. Complete the following on the (GIS): Teachers name Number of Students tested Grade Special Codes (Columns A thru C are pre-coded with the school number Special Population Category (Do not mark in this category)

Test Administration Procedures After Testing A School Group List is required. Complete the following on the School Group List: Test Date School Number Provide a contact person and number (this should be the STC) List each class by teacher’s name as it appears on the Group Information Sheet. Indicate the grade tested Write the number of students (only students who actually took the test) Send a copy of School Group list to OAA and keep a copy for your records

Test Administration Procedures After Testing Place this shipping label on the boxes with the scorable answer sheets. Write your school number and location on the shipping label and the box count Scorable answer sheets are packed and shipped to CTB McGraw Hill by Oct 9th via UPS You must go online to schedule the UPS pickup. http://programs.ctb.com/BCPS

Test Administration Procedures After Testing Pack reusable test books, unused answer sheets, rulers and Test Directions in the original boxes. Attach the blue label to the box; add your school number in the upper left corner of the label. Number your boxes, (1 of 2, 2 of 2, 3 of 3 etc.) These materials will be picked up and returned to OAA by a designated courier. October 9 and 10.
