Presentation transcript:

Our film was mostly aimed at a younger audience. Predominantly female. This is because we had a strong female lead character which breaks the stereotype for this genre of film. The age certification for our film is a 15 due to the graphic nature of some scenes. We’d distribute our film by heavily using social networking sites. Young females are the most active group of people on social networks so this is a very effective way to show-case our film. We’d set up a Facebook page posting posters, clips, adverts etc. to keep the viewers attention. We’d also use more traditional ways of advertising such as posters and billboards. We can also advertise using cast interviews and ‘sneak - peak’ clips.

Another alternative would be to use a cast from similar films to ours. For example we could use Vera Farmiga who was in a similar thriller called ‘The Conjuring’ and Elizabeth Banks from the thriller movie ‘The next three days.’ We would also heavily use Unique Selling Points (USP’s). For example saying from the “award winning best actor” or “nominated for best picture”. Also, using positive critics quotes to reassure the audience that the film is worth seeing.

What did our audience find conventional / affective in our OTS? We had a lot of feed back about our unique, unrevealing camera techniques. They also really enjoyed the soundtrack as it was entirely made by us on Logic Pro 9. They like the fact it built to a climax and also that we used some unique features such as the layers of voices that crescendo at the end of the film. They appreciated the live recorded sounds such as the nail scratching on the desk etc. They enjoyed the way we used features from our plot in a physical way. For example, our film was about a schizophrenic character, so we decided to make our shots flit from shot to shot. Another appreciated area was the Mise-en-scene. Our locations was received well as they fitted the genre very well. We used a large, high-up open field to give a real sense of space and loneliness. We also had quick revealing shots of a graveyard which obviously connoted death and gives a clue about the film ahead. From the feedback given, I feel we have successfully targeted our audience and addressed their needs in the following ways: They fully understand what the genre is, using the camera shots and the pace of them have understood the storyline and have seen the locations and, again, understood the plot.
