QUANAH PARKER

INTRODUCTION I was a warrior,a rancher, a judge, a religious leader, and a business man. I was born in northern Texas around I grew up in America’s southern plains in a tribe of Comanche Indians. I spent many years trying to make my tribe’s life better. Even though I failed a lot I had an amazing life.

TIME LINE 1849I WAS BORN 1860My mother and sister were kidnapped by Texas soldiers 1863I learned my mother was white 1869I became a war chief of the QUAHADA Band 1872I married my first two wives 1874I attacked buffalo hunters at Adobe Walls, Texas 1886I became a judge on the reservation court 1899The U.S. government gave me the title of principal chief of the Comanche Indians 1910I moved the graves of my mother and sister to join those of the People 1911I died on the reservation

MY EARLY LIFE When being the son of the chief I could shoot an arrow when young. The worst thing was the whole tribe usually went hungry when going to sleep. I learned quickly that buffalo was the most important animal to my tribe. The only cool thing about being the chief’s son is I got to play with a cool headband.
