Part1: the history of pens

History of the Pen 1702 First known fountain pen invented by a Frenchmen named M. Bion John Jacob Parker’s Pen impractical due to trouble of ink flow and drop. Designing a tinny tube of hard rubber filled with ink and attach a metal piece at the base of it.

History of the Pen Invention in 1884 by Lewis Waterman that carry own reservoir of ink. The idea was to include a hole in the metal piece ‘nib’ and break the feeding system in three parts

Parts of the Pen Nib: in contact with the paper. Feed:Controls the flow of the ink from the reservoir. Section: holds the nib and feed together and attach them to the ink reservoir

Improvements In 1915, Design a sac ink made from rubber to hold ink for self filling. Re-filling by pressurizing the reservoir in an ink bottle so that air is replaced with ink. In 1950, invention of pre-filled plastic ink container for easiest and cleaner use.

Ball Point Pen Early 1800s: The invention of integrated ink reservoir for pens 1884: Waterman designed the first usable pen in the history 1938: the invention of the first ball point pen by the brothers Biro from Hungary. It was a big success since it holds ink for a long period of time without refilling it. 1945: Reynolds an American businessman copied the invention and begun to sellit in the US. THE MARKET STUDY OF THE GENIUS PEN

New product development strategy Market segmentation  AUI Market targeting  students & teachers Market positioning  The need of a new product that satisfies the consumers Business analysis  The cost and The price of the Genius pen Test marketing  testing the product & making advertisement

Market targeting Students & teachers at AUI use different materials concerning studies The chart show the use of students of 5 items included in the Genius pen depending on the results of the survey

Market positioning Students & Teachers stated that they loose their materials frequently As a result, the Geniuses thought of the Genius pen that satisfies their needs

Business Analysis Defining the cost and benefits of the Genius pen, we chose the cost-based pricing method. This method consist on: Total project cost + Standard markup for profit

Pricing

Test Marketing After defining the target, the position and the price, it comes the step of testing the product and starting selling it. For financial concern, our market study stops here.

Comparaision between our pens and other ones (Showing other pens to compare them with our genius pen to show the usefulness of ours.) Nothing to signal Is there any competitive pens

The degital voice pen recorder This pen is able to record voices. For example: during the meetings and encounters. But our pen contain the same function, plus other ones at the same time.

Pen style laser pointer This pen contain a Visible laser Diode. It can be used during presentation to point details for example. But our pen also contain a suitable professional laser.

Pen with sharp tools We can add to this pen many kind of tools like: cutting blade, saw or even stainless steel file. But this tools are really unsafe for the students and can be very dangerous if they are not used in an appropriate way.

Digital FM Radio Pen This pen features digital searching of stations for clear reception. However, this pen is just for entertainment, so not really useful for the students.

Conclusion So from all the precedent compatative pens. Our Genius pen is really the ideal one because it containes this 7 functions: pen, pencil, roller, eraser, recorder, laser and pen sharping. Furthermore, this pen is not a toy to play with it, but it has fucntions that can help the student for his\her academic studies.
