A More Professional And Accountable Environment is Established Ensuring AUTHORIZED INDIVIDUALS Receive The SERVICES They Are AUTHORIZED To Receive

to ALL OF THIS is... How Do You Get 2000 Firefighters “Badged Up” and still maintain the Primary Mission of Why We Are Out There Fighting Fire In The First Place ? PUT THE DARN FIRE OUT SAFELY SERVE THE FIREFIGHTER AGENCY ADMINISTRATORS and GENERAL PUBLIC ALL In A Cost Effective Manner

IT SEEMS TO BOIL DOWN TO 2 QUESTIONS... IT SEEMS TO BOIL DOWN TO 2 QUESTIONS Do we implement the Badge on this Incident ? 2. Do we take PHOTOS of EVERYONE or some other OPTION ? This is where C&G, Logistics / Security, and Operations put their heads together... Badge System Implementation is a TEAM Decision Badges Touch ALMOST Every Section

ASSUMING YOU IMPLEMENT THE BADGE... Do we TAKE PHOTOS of EVERY ONE or some other OPTION ? It is a question of how long do you want to DELAY Resources from RECEIVING THEIR ASSIGNMENTS, what does the AGENCY ADMIN WANT and what are the SECURITY CONCERNS ?

BADGE WITH PHOTO FOR EVERYONE INCREASED ACCOUNTABILITY COST CONTAINMENT IMPROVES ONSITE SECURITY All Risk Assignments Urban Setting Maximum Benefits / Resources Delayed

Badge WITH Photo only SUPERVISORS and SINGLE RESOURCES Others / Crew Members Receive a BADGE WITHOUT Photo BADGE WITH PHOTO FOR SUPERVISORS INCREASEDACCOUNTABILITY COST CONTAINMENT IMPROVES ONSITE SECURITY Normal Fire Assignment Urban/Remote Setting Moderate Benefits / Resources NOT Delayed

NEXT STEPS New Software Review: AsureID is not a bad COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) product. A number of enhancements that would make it more effective have been identified. AsureID has indicated they are including a number of these enhancements in a new version due for release in the Fall 03. If the new enhancements are not available other software will be evaluated. The other requirement is linking/extracting the data needed for the ID Badge to/from the IRSS/I-Suite System being used by most IMTs. Paul Dzialowy, CTSP PNW 3, and myself will be researching existing COTS products for this requirement.
