You Are DA BEST! You are an elite group within this school. It is a privilege to get to participate in the WBL program. You represent young adults, your families, PHS and Pickens County Schools in our community…….. If you mess up, there is an AP Calculus or Chemistry Class waiting for you……

FIRST THINGS FIRST! Before Anyone Can Leave… Review Rosters & Schedules Applications (must be complete) Review Documentation (permission forms) SIGNED! Review Daily Procedures Review Monthly Assignment Procedures WBL Placements Notebooks (put together)

Work-Based Learning (WBL) Notebook Each Student will create a 1- inch presentation style notebook. This will be the manual for this course. It will have ALL of your assignments for the whole year….. And is due at the end of the course. Final Exam-20% You are responsible for keeping this up-to-date! Watch for “spot- checks”! What happens if I lose it!? Don’t.

NOTEBOOKS 1-inch presentation style binder, insert the following: Cover Page - (On Front) Mrs. Parker will supply (you may create your own if preferred ) Title Page - (Inside) Your Name, Internship Placement, Address of Business & Mentor Name(s), Work Schedule Table of Contents Name in the spine- Ms. Parker will supply these Divide into 8 sections See next slide

NOTEBOOK Divide into 8 sections Make 8 Title Pages………. 1. “Employment Forms” ( Cover Letter, Resume, Reference Sheet, Letter of Recommendation, Career Plan) 2. “Documentation Forms” ( Permission Form Packet) 3. “Attendance” (Timesheets and Paystubs) 4. “Journals” ( will include summary of activities ) 5. “Employability Skills” 6. “Placement Information” 7. “Handbook” 8. “Evaluations”

NOTEBOOKS Keep notebooks up-to-date, neat and organized.  Remember, this is a major part of your final exam. This will become a valuable tool you can use for job interviews, college scholarship applications and interviews, & college interviews.

ASSIGNMENTS All Assignments will be on-line! 1.Select Junior or Senior from the “Students” tab 2.Review the directions about saving your work with the correct file format: first inital.last name.month. assignment name 3.Click on the hyper-linked month from the list

Using the Web-site…. We will have a “practice assignment”. I will ask you to “drop” your notebook Title Page To make sure everyone understands..…. Title Page- (Inside) Your Name, Internship Placement, Address of Business & Mentor Name(s), Work Schedule If you don’t have a placement yet, just type your name and submit the document.

Daily Procedures at Work…. #1 Daily Time Sheet Log time worked #2Obey worksite policies & procedures #3Do the VERY BEST you can!

#1- DAILY TIME-SHEETS LOG YOUR TIME AT WORK EACH DAY This acts as a Time Card….. TURN IT IN AT THE END OF THE MONTH Have your supervisor or mentor sign your time sheet.

Monthly Procedures At the end of each month, you will submit assignments electronically. You will turn in hard-copies of time sheets and evaluations. These will be scanned and returned to you for your notebook. Monthly Assignments will include: Time Sheet Journal /Summary Evaluation The Monthly Assignment(s)* Pay Stubs (if applicable) Thank-you Notes (1 per sem) Time sheets and evals will be turned in to Mrs. P. by placing work in your folder on or before due dates. You will keep hard-copies of all of your work in your notebook at all times. *Only accepted electronically by deadline. THINK COLLEGE!!! Where? In the WBL Office

You Will Need:  1- inch 3 - Ring  Presentation-Style Notebook  8 Divider Tabs (store bought or hand-made) Tomorrow bring me (if you haven’t already)...  Copies of Insurance Cards and Driver’s License  Health and Auto

Attendance Where? In the WBL Office Marked Absent if not signed in Do NOT sign for anyone except yourself….. IF I am off campus & door is locked - sign out in the CTAE office next door (308)

Attendance cont. Communicate with me!!!!! If you are absent, CALL your supervisor AND me. (or you are docked 10 pts.) IF you check out, you will be counted absent for the following period(s) unless you check back in.

Attendance cont. If you are off, write “off”……… If you are not scheduled to work, you must leave campus….. IF there is something special going-on, talk to me…. When you sign out, you are responsible for being where you are supposed to be.

Attendance cont. If you are not reporting to your work location, it is considered skipping. If you are not prepared to consider this as a true career opportunity, please sign up for a different class. If you need to see me, please come during your internship time, not during another class.

Early Release Privileges Will be revoked!!! Not turning in assignments on time Too many absences Discipline Issues
