NEW MATERIALS FOR WATER PURIFICATION FROM NATURAL ORGANIC MATTERS NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES OF BELARUS INSTITUTE OF PHYSICAL ORGANIC CHEMISTRY G.V. Medyak, V.I. Sokolova, A.A. Shunkevich, A.V. Bildyukevich*

 COMPARATIVE STUDY OF GRANULAR ORGANIC SCAVENGERS AND FIBAN FIBROUS ION EXCHANGERS IN SURFACE WATER PURIFICATION FROM NATURAL ORGANIC MATTERS (NOM)  DEVELOPMENT OF NEW PLANT DESIGN ACCORDING TO PROPERTIES OF NEW MATERIALS THE AIMS OF THЕ RESEARCH ARE:

ADVANTAGES: Comparison of the ordinary granular and fibrous ion exchangers  HIGH SPEED OF ION EXCHANGE, SORPTION AND CATALYTIC PROCESSES  POSSIBILITY TO USE THIN (2-6 CM) FILTERING LAYERS  HIGH FLOW RATE  HIGH CHEMICAL RESISTANCE AND OSMOTIC STABILITY  POSSIBILITY OF MULTIPLE REGENERATIONS CHEMICALY ACTIVE TEXTILE MATERIALS FIBAN  APPLICATIONS:  AIR PURIFICATION FROM TOXIC IMPURITIES IN INDUSTRY AND AGRICULTURE;  SUPERFINE AIR PURIFICATION IN ELECTRONICS;  INDIVIDUAL PROTECTIVE MEANS FOR HUMANS SKIN AND LUNGS;  WATER PURIFICATION FROM HEAVY METALS, NITRATES, ARSENIC, ACIDS, DRINKING WARER PRODUCTION.

 Water purification from NOM (humic and fulvic acids) was carried out using ion exchangers FIBAN and strong-base anion exchangers Purolite and Amberlite, recommended for water purification from organic matters  All tests were carried out in dynamic conditions: a column inner diameter 1.2 cm, a bed height 4-5 cm,  1.2 g of dried to constant mass granular or finely cut fibrous ion exchangers  All ion exchangers were transformed into Cl-form  The maximum COD value in the purified water was considered to be 3 mg О/l.
