Agenda 2-7 Next Stage of Noise Regulation in India [Alignment with UNR 41-04] SIAM – JAMA Two-Wheeler Group Meeting 31 st October 2014, Goa
Noise Regulation (Current status) Indian Noise Standard IS 3028 is in process of alignment with UNR Revised standard has included changes as proposed by SIAM: 1 /2 Revised standard has been cleared by Technical Committee of BIS (Bureau Of Indian Standard). Standard is in process of printing at BIS. 1.ASEP is optional requirement for all category of vehicles. 2.Indian administrative changes are incorporated. 3.Requirement related to fibrous material is not applicable for paper & foam filters 4.Provision for Stationary noise is not included in the revised standard. 5.Transitory Provision for Implementation incorporated in draft standard.
1. Standard Finalized by BIS (TED 4) 2. Printing of Standard by BIS Status of Standard Printing at BIS is still not known as many other documents are pending at BIS for printing for a long time 3. Discussion for Implementation - [MoRTH & MoEF] (MoRTH : Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, MoEF : Ministry of Environment and Forest) Noise Regulation – Implementation Next Step for Implementation 2 /2 a)Implementation plan, lead-time etc. will be discussed only after the standard is printed. b)SIAM proposal is for implementation of the revised Noise Standard along with Next Stage Emission Norms i.e. BS V. c)Estimation of implementation time is very difficult as Two ministries are involved in the decision making.
