Durham Education This presentation will cover: Durham local authority’s present position in terms of school improvement and its relationship with schools Durham’s current collaborative projects and activities Lessons learned – things we think we’ve got right Lessons learned – what we know we need to improve A glimpse into the future - where next?

Durham Education Present position 282 schools; 33 secondary (14 academies) 186 primary (2 academies) 19 junior; 22 infant; 97 nursery 10 special (1 academy); 1 PRU Large rural county with high levels of deprivation in areas.

Durham Education Some indicators Percentages of pupils receiving good or better education: 78.6% Durham secondary (national - 58%) 72.1% Durham primary (national - 68%) LA 5 A*-C (E&M) – 62.9% (national – 60.2%) Schools requiring improvement: 19 primary; 2 secondary Special measures: 1 primary; 1 secondary
