North Carolina Located on the East Coast of the United States Borders the Atlantic Ocean Known for Basketball (Michael Jordan), Lenovo, Tobacco, Shuanghui International, Nascar, and Moonshine!

United States Prohibition Nationwide ban on the production and sale of alcohol. Remained in place from 1920 to Prohibition did not stop the citizens from distilling and drinking alcohol

Prohibition Instead created an underground distilling and distribution society. One of which began in the rural foothills of the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina.

Moonshine Defined as a high proof distilled spirits Gets name because it was distilled at night “by the light of the moon” to avoid detection by law enforcement. Illegal because moonshiners did not pay state or federal taxes on liquor.
