TEEN BRAIN

TEEN BRAIN CONFLICT

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN AT CAMP? Good decision-making requires time and information. Peer pressure is ALWAYS a factor. Intense emotional responses will occur!!!! Sleep deficit clouds critical thinking.

COUNSELORS CAN Be safe Follow the rules Understand expectations DO HARD THINGS

SUPERVISORS MUST Acknowledge temptation Name behaviors High expectations Clear rules Enforce consequences

REMEMBER THETEEN BRAIN?

CALL YOUR STAFF! Light a fire in your staff intentionally: Build on their experiences Heighten their emotions Use peer pressure for good Call them to action!

11 CREATE (CHANGE?)YOUR CULTURE

WHAT’S THE WORD AT TRAINING? ASK. Past staff Current leaders Former campers Your competition Recruiters Social media

OFFER STRATEGIES Play “What if” What if you could? What if you want to? What if you did? Establish mentors Remind them of options Reward great choices
